Preparation for treatment — rats
For rats, prep focuses on the exterior (where they typically nest) and securing food sources.
To do before we arrive
Preparation checklist
- 1
Locate and tell us about visible exterior burrows (5-10 cm holes in ground, near foundation, compost, shed).
- 2
Secure all compost in airtight bins.
- 3
Empty and clean exterior trash; ideally bring them in at night.
- 4
Pick fruits or vegetables from garden before intervention.
- 5
Eliminate any stagnant water (containers, blocked gutters, pot saucers).
- 6
For food businesses: ensure access to storage zones, crawl space, basement, exterior surroundings (including yard and waste containers).
- 7
Keep pets inside during treatment day.
DO NOT destroy burrows before our inspection — their location and state give critical info.
After treatment
What to expect
Rats are wary (neophobia) and may take 5-10 days before consuming baits. Stations stay 21-30 days. Adjustment visits at 7 and 14 days (included in the protocol). A monthly maintenance program is available for businesses at a separate fee.
