Preparation for treatment — cockroaches
Preparation is critical for cockroach treatment. A well-prepared kitchen can reduce the number of visits needed. Plan 2-3 hours.
To do before we arrive
Preparation checklist
- 1
Fully empty kitchen cabinets and shelves: remove all food, dishes, containers. Put in sealed plastic bags or lidded bins outside the kitchen.
- 2
Clean all surfaces with a degreaser — counters, cabinet interiors, shelves. Cockroaches are drawn to invisible residue.
- 3
Empty and clean the oven (under the bottom element is a hot spot), microwave, toaster and small appliances.
- 4
Pull the fridge, stove and dishwasher 30+ cm from their slots to give access behind.
- 5
Empty trash and recycling. Take bags out of the house.
- 6
Store pet food in airtight containers. Don't leave food/water bowls out for 24 hours after treatment.
- 7
Repair or report any leaky faucet — cockroaches need water; a dripping tap is their main source.
DO NOT use foggers or over-the-counter sprays in the days before. They scatter the colony into walls and make elimination dramatically harder.
- 9
Plan a 4-hour absence during treatment. Pets and kids must leave during application.
After treatment
What to expect
Do not clean treated surfaces for at least 14 days. You may see MORE cockroaches in the open during the first 48 hours — they are dying. Visit 2 at 14 days, visit 3 at 30 days to break the full reproductive cycle.
